Tree Meditation

Trees are, believe it or not, open to a relationship with you. In my experience, old growth California Redwoods, will respond when I patiently engage without expectations. What does that mean: to engage without expectations? Did you adjusted your expectations when you became a first time pet “owner”? So be open to a tree, stay with this tree, visit it every day if possible.

A tree meditation is a very simple meditation. Sit under it or lie under it for 20 or thirty minutes. If you put down a blanket on the ground, use something made of natural rather than synthetic fiber. Soon enough, you will begin to experience it as a living presence whose presence (energy) changes as it becomes more open to you. Slowly you will begin to experience its moods. Some days it will be more or less present with you. Loud noises will impact it. Smoke and rain will impact it.

Then a day will come when its presence reaches out to you at the moment you arrive in full view of the tree. That is when you have begun a full communication with this tree.
